Club Gives Three Scholarships -  7/1/2010

    The Kiwanis Club of Wheaton has awarded three local high school seniors $1,000 scholarships for use in college.

    Receiving scholarships were Patrick Cavanaugh of Wheaton-Warrenville South High School, Kelsey M. Schroeder and Emily Altimari of Wheaton North High School. Emily is president of the school’s Key Club, a Kiwanis affiliate sponsored by the club.

    The seniors and their families were hosted by the club at a weekly dinner.



Our annual fish story -  6/19/2010

    Kids love to fish!

    The Kiwanis Club of Wheaton hosted 225 youngsters at its annual Fish-o-Rama, co-sponsored by the Wheaton Park District. 

    A storm the night before might have kept some young fishermen home (helping parents with downed tree branches), but those in attendance were treated to a beautiful morning as well as Kiwanis donuts, hot dogs and soft drinks.

Club Donates to Haiti Relief -  2/15/2010
The Kiwanis Club of Wheaton and its members have donated more than $1,300 for Haiti relief throught Kiwanis International.


Host Marian Park Xmas Party -  11/2/2009

    The Kiwanis Club of Wheaton hosted some 100 Marian Park kids at its annual Christmas Party for the housing development prior to Christmas. 

    The annual event included a halal dinner for the apartment’s families, a visit from Santa and gifts for resident children.

    Gifts were purchased locally, thanks to the cooperation of a national retailer, and were wrapped by members of the Key Club of Wheaton North High School.

Club Awarded Interclub Patch -  11/1/2009

The Kiwanis Club of Wheaton has been awarded a 2009-10 Interclub patch from the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District.  Under the guidance of Jack Ulrich, at least four members of the club visited Division 9’s other eight clubs as well as affiliated organization, such as the Wheaton North High School Key Club and the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association’s Aktion Club, during the past year. 



Wheaton Member Assumes Division Leadership -  10/1/2009
Dan Fapp, secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Wheaton, begins another term as lieutenant governor for Division 9 within the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District.  Fapp previously was Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of Division 9 for 2004-5 and Distinguished President of the Club in 2002-3.

There are nine clubs within Division 9, primarily within central DuPage County.  He will continue as secretary for the Wheaton club and as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Aurora.


 
Kiwanis News
